3rd Annual Fiddlin’ Fest Between the Rivers Transforms Downtown Rome Into One Giant Street Festival Featuring Bluegrass Music & Vintage Fun

The 2018 Fiddlin’ Fest Between the Rivers is a bluegrass street festival in Downtown Rome featuring the classical sounds of bluegrass music on two live music stages and activities in every block of the festival from 12 p.m.- 8 p.m.
This event is free thanks to the generous support of sponsors River City Bank, Hampton Inn & Suites, and Downtown Rome businesses and property owners (BID).
Over ten different regional and local bluegrass bands recognized for their instrumental talent and musical energy will perform live. There will be two stages, the Cotton Block Stage in the 100 block and the 4th & Broad Stage next to Jefferson’s. Musicians who enjoy the vintage tones of acoustic picking will perform throughout the festival.
A third stage has been added to the fun and will feature banjo and fiddle music workshops. The Evolution of Banjo by Laney House begins at 1 p.m. Old Time Fiddle, hosted by John Grimm begins at 3 p.m. MusikWorks will host an exhibition and a raffle at 4:15 p.m.
Cars on Broad car show will feature cars from every decade including pre-1950, street rod, original, rat rod, trucks and more. The Armuchee Ruritan Club who is presenting the show will judge and offer “Best of” awards in several categories. Registration for the car show will run from 12 p.m.-3 p.m.
The Cotton block will feature 40 arts and crafts vendors offering a wide variety of hand-made items including quilting, tie dye, jewelry, home decor, and woodworking.
The street festival also features specialty food items such as lemonade, cotton candy, and popcorn. The Rome-Floyd Fire Department, Rome Braves, Rome-Floyd Humane Society, and Healing Hands will also have interactive booths at the street festival. The 400 block will feature kids inflatables.
Downtown shops will host sidewalk sales and restaurants will offer food and drinks for sale outside their businesses. Adult beverages purchased at restaurants may be brought into the event area with an armband. Outside coolers are not permitted.
Parking is conveniently located all around the festival, including the 4th Ave, 6th Ave, and 3rd Ave parking decks, which will all be free.
The free event is made possible thanks to the generous support of Rome’s downtown businesses and property owners. The community is encouraged to support downtown businesses by dining, shopping and utilizing services.
