The purpose of this classification is to assist with the Director of Public Works with planning, directing and coordinating departmental operations and activities. Primary focus will be on directing daily operations which include storm water, bridges, roads, right of way management, signs and striping.

•Supervises, directs and evaluates assigned staff.
•Coordinates with the Director to plan, direct, and oversee operations and activities of the department, including roads, bridges, drainage facilities, signs, striping, right of way, and grounds maintenance.
•Administers and enforces all applicable laws, regulations, policies and procedures.
•Coordinates efforts to assemble the production requirement for the annual department budget; monitors expenditures for compliance with budget; leads efforts on major purchases.
•Reviews, plans, and schedules department projects; assigns work; monitors status of work in progress and inspects completed work.
•Coordinates departmental projects and activities with other departments, contractors, local utilities, outside agencies, and related parties.
•Maintains a comprehensive, current knowledge and awareness of applicable laws and regulations.
•Compiles and/or tracks various administrative and/or statistical data and makes applicable calculations; analyzes trends; prepares and generates reports.

Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Public/Business Administration, or a closely related field and five (5) years of Public Works experience with three (3) years of supervisory experience or any combination of education, training, and experience. Must possess and maintain valid drivers license.
