JOB SUMMARY: The purpose of this position is to plan, administer and direct athletic and team sports programs for adults and youth for the Rome Floyd Parks and Recreation Department.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: • Supervises, directs, and evaluates assigned staff, processing employee concerns and problems, directing work, counseling, disciplining, and completing employee performance appraisals.
• Receives various forms, reports, correspondence, budget reports, time sheets, accident reports, invoices, receipt records, check requests, program and activity reports, policies, procedures, catalogs, manuals, rules or other documentation; reviews, completes, processes, forwards or retains as appropriate.
• Make recommendations for rule changes or program expansion.
• Plans, administers and directs athletic programs including leagues, clinics, classes, programs, special events and facilities use; establishes and distributes schedules, including dates, times and locations of practices, games, clinics, classes and events; administers policies with respect to scheduling, safety, and insurance; monitors and evaluates program outcomes; maintains related documentation.
• Recruits, trains, supervises, coordinates and evaluates full time, part time, and volunteer sports staff and officials.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s degree in Public Recreation, Leisure Services, Parks and Recreation Administration or closely related field and supplemented by five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in parks and recreation management, sports programming, or closely related field; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job. Must possess and maintain a valid Georgia driver’s license. Must possess and maintain CPR certification.
