JOB SUMMARY: The purpose of this classification is to plan, administer, and direct athletic and team sports programs for adults and youth for the Rome - Floyd Parks and Recreation Department.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: • Supervises, directs, and evaluates assigned staff.
• Make recommendations for rule changes or program expansion.
• Plans, administers, and directs athletic programs including leagues, clinics, classes, programs, special events and facilities use.
• Establishes and distributes schedules including dates, times, and locations of practices, games, clinics, classes and events; administers policies with respect to scheduling, safety, and insurance; monitors and evaluates program outcomes; maintains related documentation.
• Recruits, trains, supervises, coordinates and evaluates sports staff and officials.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s degree in Recreation, Leisure Services, Public Administration, or closely related field and five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in parks and recreation management, sports programming, or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job. Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license. Must possess and maintain CPR certification.
